How Solar Time Energy PTY LTD collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you request a quote, use our websites or have a system installed.

Last updated: 7 November 2026

1. Who we are

Solar Time Energy PTY LTD (“Solar Time Energy”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a solar and home battery installer serving Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Ipswich, Queensland. This policy applies to personal information collected through our websites, including solarenergyinstallationproject.com and solartimeenergy.com.au, through our online quote forms, over the phone, by email and in person.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). As a New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) Approved Seller, we also handle your information in line with the commitments we make under that Code.

2. What we collect

The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. For a typical quote request it includes:

Category Examples
Contact details Name, email address, phone number, suburb and postcode, street address for site assessments and installation
Property details Property type, roof type and material, single or three-phase power supply, roof access and switchboard details where relevant
Energy information Quarterly electricity bill amount, electricity usage, system size preferences, existing solar or battery equipment
Documents you upload Electricity bills, photos of your roof, meter box or switchboard
Quote and job records Written quotes, system designs, rebate eligibility assessments, installation and warranty records
Payment and finance details Payment records and, if you apply for finance, information needed by the finance provider
Technical data IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring website, cookie identifiers
Communications Emails, form submissions, call notes and any feedback or reviews you give us

We only ask for information we reasonably need to respond to you. Fields marked optional on our forms are genuinely optional.

3. About your electricity bill

We ask for a recent electricity bill because it lets us recommend a realistic system size and estimate your savings, rather than guessing.

Please be aware that an electricity bill can contain more than your usage. It may show your full name, supply address, retailer account number and National Meter Identifier (NMI). We treat these details as personal information and use them only to assess your energy needs, confirm your meter and connection arrangements, and prepare your quote.

You can redact before you send. You are welcome to black out your account number, NMI and any payment details before uploading your bill. Your name, suburb, usage and tariff are usually all we need for an initial quote.

4. Why we collect it

We collect and use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare a written quote;
  • assess your roof, usage and switchboard, and design a suitable solar or battery system;
  • work out which federal and Queensland rebates or incentives apply to your address, including Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs);
  • arrange site assessments, grid connection approvals, installation and inspections;
  • register product warranties and provide after-sales service, maintenance and warranty support;
  • process payments and, if you choose it, finance applications;
  • meet our legal, tax, safety and record-keeping obligations, including electrical safety and NETCC requirements;
  • improve our websites, quotes and customer service; and
  • send you marketing you have agreed to receive, which you can opt out of at any time.

If you do not provide the information we need, we may not be able to give you an accurate quote or install a system at your property.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We only disclose it where needed to do the work you have asked for, or where the law requires it. This can include:

Who Why
Our installers and contractors Our own CEC-accredited installation team and any licensed electricians or inspectors engaged on your job, so they can assess and complete the work
Equipment manufacturers and distributors For example LONGi, SolaX and Sungrow, to register product warranties and handle warranty claims
Electricity distributors and retailers Such as Energex, for grid connection approval, meter changes and export arrangements
Regulators and government bodies The Clean Energy Regulator for STC creation and assignment, Queensland rebate administrators, and other authorities where required by law
Finance providers If you apply for payment plans or interest-free finance, the provider you choose needs your details to assess the application
Form and IT service providers Our online form provider (Jotform), website hosting provider, email and cloud storage services, which process enquiries and store records on our behalf
Professional advisers Accountants, insurers and legal advisers where necessary

Where another company handles your information for us, we require it to be used only for the service provided to us.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use store or process data outside Australia. In particular, enquiries submitted through our online forms are processed by Jotform, and we use services such as Google for email, storage and analytics. These providers may hold data in the United States, the European Union or other countries.

Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs, including through contractual safeguards. By submitting a form on our website you acknowledge that your enquiry will be processed by these providers.

If you would prefer not to have your details processed overseas, you can request a quote by phone on 1300 712 020 or by email to solartimeenergystc@gmail.com instead of using the online form.

7. Cookies & analytics

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences and understand how visitors use our pages. This may include analytics and measurement services provided by Google.

The information collected is generally aggregated and does not directly identify you. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as expected if you disable cookies, but our contact details will still be available.

8. Direct marketing

We may send you information about solar, batteries, rebates and our services where you have asked us to, consented to it, or where we are otherwise permitted to do so under the APPs and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Every marketing message includes a way to opt out. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the message, or by contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing does not affect service or warranty communications about a system you already have.

9. Storage & security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls on our systems, password-protected accounts, and limiting access to staff and contractors who need the information for their work.

Our websites use HTTPS to encrypt information in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it and notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law. As a general guide:

  • Quote requests that do not proceed are usually kept for up to 24 months, so we can respond if you come back to us.
  • Installation, warranty and financial records are kept for the life of the warranty and for the period required by tax and corporate law, which can be seven years or longer.
  • Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

11. Access & correction

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations.

Contact us using the details below and tell us what you need. We will respond within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information. We do not charge for making a request, and we will tell you if a reasonable cost applies to providing access to a large volume of records.

If we refuse a request, we will explain why and tell you how you can complain.

12. Making a complaint

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
